AAJUW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The American Association of Japanese University Women (AAJUW) is currently accepting scholarship applications for 2024-2025. AAJUW was founded in 1970 to promote the education of women, as well as to contribute to U.S. – Japan relations, cultural exchanges, and development of leadership. Since the founding of the organization, scholarships have been awarded every year to outstanding female students. This year each awardee will receive a $2,000 scholarship.


QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Female student currently enrolled in an accredited California college or university

  2. Has Junior, Senior or Graduate standing in the school year 2024-2025

  3. Recipient is advised to attend the award ceremony held on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. in the greater Los Angeles area.

  4. Demonstrate a desire and intent to fulfill a leadership role in your chosen field of study and to be a contributor to U.S.-Japan relations and cultural exchanges

  5. Must not have received an AAJUW scholarship previously

  6. Submission of the online application and two letters of recommendation must be received by Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 11:59 P.M. Pacific Standard Time (PST). Any incomplete or missing information and documents will result in disqualification.

  7. Scholarship recipients will be notified on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

The following materials will be submitted ONLINE via Google Form Application.

  1. Scholarship Application Form (Google Form Application available on-line http://www.aajuw.org )

  2. A current CV

  3. Official transcript(s) for the past two years of study

  4. Two letters of recommendation, addressed to AAJUW Scholarship Committee. One letter must be written by a professor in your major field of study. Please have the person writing the recommendation letter email letter to: <aajuwscholarship+recommendation@gmail.com>. Your 2 letters of recommendation must be received by November 30, 2024 at 11:59 P.M. Pacific Standard Time (PST).

  5. An essay explaining how you plan to use your study and knowledge for the betterment of U.S. – Japan relationship. Be specific in your essay to clarify your ideas in English or in Japanese. It should not exceed more than two pages (8 1⁄2 x 11, double-spaced, approx. 500 words).

DEADLINE AND SUBMISSION
